Lago Paranoá is no natural accident: it was born with the city itself, in the late 1950s, when the river was dammed as part of Lúcio Costa’s urban plan. Today it is the mirror in which Brasília sees itself. Along the way you will see Ponte JK, its three arches leaping across the water, and the low, clean skyline that defines the capital’s architecture, set against the open sky of the Cerrado.
